MUCH was made of the participation in the Gold Cup of Tea For Two, purely because Lizzie Kelly became the first woman to ride in the race since Linda Sheedy partnered no-hoper Foxbury in Burrough Hill Lad’s race in 1984.

It was unfortunate that the bold-jumping Tea For Two dumped Lizzie on the deck at just the second fence, but in truth this was a non-story. Lizzie Kelly very much deserves her place in the spotlight, but not as a novelty.
