PAUL Nicholls suffers relatively few disappointments but there was one in November when Rocky Creek ran no race in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury.

The nine-year-old, fifth in the Crabbie’s Grand National in April, returned to his best at Kempton on Saturday, running out a clear-cut winner of the Grade 3 Betbright Chase. Always well there on the outside, he led soon after four out and drew clear to beat Le Reve by six lengths with Bally Legend third.
