NOTTINGHAM SATURDAY

THERE was another Irish-trained winner cross-channel on Saturday when Ken Condon’s raider Newsletter struck for the younger generation in the Listed EBF Stallions Weatherbys General Stud Book Kilvington Fillies’ Stakes at Nottingham.

Even-money favourite Spinatrix and Queen Catrine led after the two-furlong pole, but the Gravity Partnership’s filly closed up the ground after being slowly away.

Joining the two leaders with a furlong to run, the 7/1 chance with Shane Foley on board, ran on strongly to score by a length and a quarter from fellow three-year-old Pastoral Girl, who finished strongly for second, with Lastuce keeping on for third.

Ken Condon said: “She could go to Naas on June 1st or the Ballyogan Stakes on June 7th before the Commonwealth Cup, which has to be considered as she ran so well at Ascot last year in a strong Queen Mary.” (third to Anthem Alexander and Twiggy Wiggy).
