Fourteen wildcards have been added to the Tattersalls Online July Sale which takes place on Wednesday and Thursday this week, July 1st and 2nd.
They include a complete dispersal of 10 lots from the Estate of the Late Kevin Prendergast following the recent passing of the legendary Irish trainer.
Among nine horses in training in the dispersal is the promising three-year-old filly Glory To Be who ran an eye-catching debut at the Curragh last month before finishing second in a maiden at Cork over five furlongs on June 13th. The daughter of Cotai Glory has a pedigree to match her evident talent being out of a half-sister to the dam of Group 1 winners Creative Force and Persuasive.
Another attractive prospect is winning three-year-old gelding Iowntheball. A winner over seven furlongs at two and placed twice this year, the son of Advertise is a half-brother to listed placed Zim Baby and boasts a current Timeform rating of 85.
A selection of unraced juveniles including Mergus Serrator, a colt by Masar out of a full-sister to listed winner and Group 1 placed Whitecliffsofdover. The other two-year-olds include Landrail, a half-sister to listed winner and Group 3 placed Uluru as well as fillies by Awtaad, Coulsty and Decorated Knight.
The dispersal is completed by the three-year-old gelding Battling Siki who is out of a listed placed daughter of champion mare Rebelline, four-year-old filly Irish Annie as well as broodmare Butterfly Garden, a winning daughter of Awtaad who is being offered in foal to Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas winner Mac Swiney.
Ralph Beckett’s Kimpton Down Stables have added two colts to their draft including Too Don Juan, a beautifully bred son of Too Darn Hot who is out of a daughter of dual champion and multiple Group 1 winning mare Islington. He is joined by Invincible Duke, another well-bred colt who has been placed twice to date and is a half-brother to Group 3 placed Duchess Of Dubai.
Completing the wildcard additions to the sale is five-furlong winning mare Bonny Power from Neil Mulholland’s Conkwell Lodge Racing Stables and winning six-year-old Flemensfirth mare Atomic Queen, a half-sister to Grade 3 placed Get A Tonic, consigned by Peter Fahey’s Roefield Stables.
Hat-trick scorer
Trainer Mark Fahey pulled off an excellent training feat in recent weeks when saddling I Bid You Ajou to win three times in a row at Fairyhouse.
The four-year-old gelding has been a revelation this summer since dropping back to six furlongs and he will be offered for sale in the online sale.
I Bid You Ajou began his winning run off a mark of 59 and is now rated 80, though Timeform have him on 87.
There are just over 100 entries for the online sale. Bidding starts on Tuesday, July 1st and closes from 11am on Wednesday, July 2nd. The catalogue includes 83 horses in and out of training, 13 broodmares, four point-to-pointers, two yearlings and one store.
Another promising prospect for sale online is Flawless Fusion from trainer Jim Bolger. The two-year-old filly by Dawn Approach was runner-up on debut over seven furlongs at Leopardstown earlier this month.
A highlight of the broodmares catalogued is New Romance consigned by New England Stud. The daughter of Dubawi is being offered with an attractive covering to Kingman, on southern hemisphere time.
Other breeding prospects in the sale include the Tinnakill House-consigned filly Trexie, a daughter of Australia and a half-sister to Melbourne Cup runner-up Prince Of Arran.
Jumpers for sale
On the jumps front, Hollow Games is the standout name among the initial entries.
Trained by Gordon Elliott for Bective Stud, the nine-year-old is a Grade 3 winner and has been Grade 1 placed. He has been competing in hunter chases and point-to-points this year, placing on his last three starts, which included the featured hunter chases at both the Fairyhouse and Punchestown Festivals.
Elliott is also selling the lightly-raced six-year-old and 110-chase-rated Last Round, plus Welcome Back, a five-year-old son of Getaway, who was a winner of his point-to-point debut at Tinahely earlier this year.
Trainer Henry de Bromhead consigns four lots, led by Grade A Punchestown Novice Handicap Chase placed Life In The Park, a winner over both hurdles and fences and multiple blacktype placed. Also featuring in the draft is the Grade 2-placed mare Innatendue and listed placed stablemate Popova, a half-sister to the Grade 3 placed hurdler Holding Pattern, who holds a current IHRB hurdle rating of 126.
Jonathan Fogarty Racing is selling four-year-old filly Bessie Grove, who finished second on her debut at Tattersalls, and Robert Tector offers 11-length Necarne winner Bee’s Kiss.
One of the two yearlings on offer is the Fittocks Stud-consigned filly by Group 1 sire Cracksman out of a winning half-sister to Drill and Pongee.
