THE success of Camille Pissarro in the Prix du Jockey Club last Sunday was the perfect advertisement for the Tattersalls July Sale, as that is where breeder James Cloney bought the dam of the future French classic winner for just 14,000gns.
Named Entreat, the mare was part of the Cheveley Park Stud consignment at the 2016 sale. Cheveley Park have no entries in this year’s July Sale but there are mares being offered by Ballylinch Stud, Godolphin, Juddmonte, Meon Valley, Shadwell and Whatton Manor.
There are 931 lots catalogued, and they are comprised of 837 horses and fillies in/out of training and 94 broodmares, 11 of which have foals at foot. The three-day sale starts on Tuesday 8th July.
The 94 broodmares on offer include mares covered by first season sires Auguste Rodin, Big Evs, Bradsell, City Of Troy, King Of Steel, Look De Vega and Vandeek. There are also mares in foal to stallions yet to have a runner, such as Chaldean, Good Guess, Isaac Shelby, Little Big Bear, Mostahdaf, Paddington, Shaquille and Triple Time.
Proven Group 1-producing sires represented include Ardad, Australia, Cotai Glory, Dark Angel, Gleneagles, Kodiac, Make Believe, Mehmas, Nathaniel, and Showcasing.
The Godolphin draft at the July Sale is always highly sought-after and this year’s consignment is led by Midnight Fair, a half-sister to Group 1 winners Ghaiyyath and Zhukova, offered in foal to Space Blues.
Godolphin also offer daughters of Dubawi, Frankel, Lope De Vega, Sea The Stars and Teofilo.
Magical Treasure - the Sea The Stars own-sister to Group 1 winner Sea Silk Road - and Picture House - the Kingman half-sister to Prix du Jockey Club second Cualificar - are among the highlights, as well as the 92-rated three-year-old Yoga Master, an impressive winner of her most recent start at Longchamp in May.
Juddmonte Farms offer the Frankel filly Latakia and Golden Splendour, a daughter of Golden Horn and Group 1 winner Winsili, both winners of their only starts to date. Juddmonte has also entered Orchid Bouquet, a Kingman own-sister to Group 2 Coventry Stakes winning sire Calyx, and Quadratic, the Dubawi daughter of Group 1 winner Quadrilateral from the family of blue hen Hasili.
Further highlights among the breeding stock catalogued include Triggers Broom, the dam of Group 1 winning young sire Supremacy, who will be offered by the National Stud in foal to 2000 Guineas winner Chaldean.
Listed winner Miaharris will be offered in foal to City Of Troy by Baroda Stud, and the multiple Group 1 winner and blacktype producer Majmu is among the draft from Shadwell. The daughter of Redoute’s Choice will be offered in foal to Pinatubo alongside well-bred daughters of Dubawi, Sea The Stars and Too Darn Hot.
