THE expected top lot at this week’s Tattersalls Online September Sale failed to find a buyer when bidding stopped at 180,000gns for the Andrew Balding-trained three-year-old sprint handicapper Marchogion.
This left top billing to the three-year-old colt Renato, who was sold for 80,000gns to dissolve a partnership and was bought by one of his former part-owners.
Rated 89 by Timeform, the son of Sea The Stars has been placed in four of his seven starts to date on both the turf and all-weather for trainer Marco Botti.
The lightly-raced two-year-old Baker Blue, one of six lots consigned by Jessica Harrington’s Commonstown Stables in the sale, sold for 31,000gns to Fortune Bloodstock. The son of Ardad was second on his latest start at Down Royal earlier this month.
Harry Eustace sold three-year-old gelding Babylon for 23,000gns to Kuwait-based Hussain Aldossary. Richard Fahey’s two-year-old winner Awaafi was sold for 20,000gns to Qatari-based Mohammed Al Khalifa.
The sale realised a turnover of 499,100gns for 88 lots sold at an average price of 5,672gns.
The Tattersalls Online October Sale takes place on October 22nd-23rd, with entries closing on Friday, October 10th.
