Castillon Stallions is delighted to announce the addition of Rashabar (Holy Roman Emperor - Amazonka, by Camelot) to its stallion roster for the 2027 breeding season. A group winner at Royal Ascot and twice Group 1-placed at two, Rashabar brings together precocity, toplevel performance and an outstanding physical.

Benoît Jeffroy, founder of Castillon Stallions, comments: “I am delighted that Sam Sangster and his partners have chosen us ahead of several studs in Britain. Rashabar’s race record and physical make him a very attractive commercial prospect. There is also a strong support programme behind the horse, with both his owners and Castillon firmly committed to him.”

A top-class two-year-old

Trained by Brian Meehan for Manton Thoroughbreds, Rashabar established himself among the leading two-year-olds in Europe during his juvenile campaign. He won the Coventry Stakes Group 2 at Royal Ascot over six furlongs, defeating a field that included subsequent dual Group 1 winner and Prix du Jockey Club hero Camille Pissarro.

He then finished second in the Prix Morny Group 1 at Deauville over six furlongs, just three-quarters of a length behind Whistlejacket, before going down by only a neck to Camille Pissarro when second in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère Group 1 over seven furlongs, finishing ahead of subsequent Group 1 winners Field Of Gold and Henri Matisse.

Rashabar continued to compete at the highest level at three, from seven to ten furlongs. He finished second in the Greenham Stakes Group 3, fourth in both the Irish 2000 Guineas Group 1 and St James’s Palace Stakes Grade 1, before finishing second in the Steventon Stakes LR and Prix Guillaume d’Ornano Group 2 over 10 furlongs.

His trainer Brian Meehan said: “Rashabar was an incredibly genuine, tough and talented horse. He had the speed to win a Coventry, but also the constitution and class to be highly competitive in Group 1 company. He was a pleasure to train, very sound-minded, straightforward and willing and I very much look forward to training his progeny in the future.”

For Sam Sangster, Rashabar possesses the qualities breeders look for in a stallion, having demonstrated his precocity from the very start of his two-year-old campaign:“He gave us the day of our lives at Royal Ascot, and he showed the sort of precocity every breeder is looking for. To win a Coventry in June and then be only just denied in two Group 1s later the same season, at Deauville and at Longchamp, takes a proper two-year-old. He trained on and took on the very best at three, and he is a lovely, powerful, correct horse who has always looked every inch a stallion.

“I have seen at first hand how much difference it makes when a young horse has his owners genuinely behind him, as Diego Velazquez has had, and Rashabar will get exactly that from us. We will be supporting him with our own mares from the first season. We would not be doing this if we did not believe in him.”

A pedigree combining speed and class

Rashabar is by Holy Roman Emperor, the sire of numerous Group 1 winners and an increasingly influential broodmare sire. His daughters have already produced dual Group 1 winner Rayif, his group-winning sister Rayevka, as well as Group 1 winners Caballo De Mar and Porta Fortuna.

On the dam’s side, Rashabar is out of Amazonka, by Camelot, from a family rich in highclass performers. His half-sister Lethal Beauty was a winner at two and is multiple groupplaced, while his second dam is also responsible for River Of Stars, a multiple Group 1- placed performer.

Enrico Simone-Faccarello, nominations manager at Castillon Stallions, was particularly enthusiastic after seeing Rashabar in the flesh: “Rashabar is a very good-looking horse with an excellent temperament. He really impressed me when I saw him and I believe he will appeal strongly to breeders. He combines precocity and top-level performance with some very strong form lines.”

Rashabar will receive strong support from both his owners and Castillon Stallions from his first season at stud. Syndication is currently open.

His stud fee for the 2027 breeding season will be announced at a later date.
