EIGHTEEN of the 21 horses offered for sale at Saturday's Goffs Coral Gold Cup Sale at Newbury found buyers on Saturday.
The average price was an impressive £119,167 and the top price paid was £200,000, which was achieved by two lots.
Gavin Cromwell bought one of the top lots, the four-year-old filly Half Past Tipsy, a Quakerstown point-to-point winner for Sam Curling on her second start.
The other £200,000 sale concerned Denis Murphy's The Bluesman, who only finished third on his pointing debut at Dromahane. That was enough to encourage agent Tom Malone and trainer Paul Nicholls to buy him. The winner of that Dromahane maiden was the Gordon Elliott-trained Patter Merchant.
