THE newly formed Welsh Pony and Cob Society of Ireland (formerly the Irish Association) held their Championship Show at Raheen na Gun Stud in Kilkenny after a break of two years due to the Covid-19 restrictions. It was good to see the enthusiasm for Welsh ponies had not waned during the enforced break with some new partnerships as well as young ponies having outings.

The versatility and good temperament of the breed was underlined all day as many of the ponies competed in both show and jumping classes. As in previous years, there were plenty of mini ponies competing with the younger children and it was nice to see more than one member of the same family able to compete in different classes with the versatile smaller ponies.
