THE first of two deferred legs of the 2020 Horse Sport Ireland autumn arena eventing series was held last Sunday at Wexford Equestrian where it attracted a large entry as riders and producers geared up for today’s first Eventing Ireland one-day of the season at Blackstairs.

As opposed to the earlier rounds, where the three classes featured one for four-year-olds, the age parameters have been changed for this spring season with five-year-olds being the youngest to compete in the HSI-sponsored divisions. However, a quartet of 2017-foaled animals was entered in the Open AE90 class where Mary Mangan’s Ballinagore Maximus, a gelded son of KEC Maximus Joe, finished fifth under Sean Looney.
