KEN Condon’s Success Days is heading to Australia to take on Winx in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick racecourse on April 14th.

The six-year-old is currently in quarantine at Newmarket and will travel to Australia next week to prepare for the $A4,000,000 10-furlong contest which is part of The Championships meeting – the cornerstone of Sydney’s Autumn Carnival.

Condon said: “It’s very exciting and it’s going to be fantastic to be involved. Australians love their sport and Winx is a phenomenon. It’s a big ask but there is fantastic prize money on offer.

“Success Days is in good form and Stephen McCarthy is looking after him. Martin Harley worked him on Wednesday and he’ll work again next week before travelling on Thursday.

“It’s great because we had been resigned to the fact that he’d be leaving us this season. His owner Robert Ng was keen for him to go to stud but we got the call that he was coming back and then we started thinking about other options.

“I met James Ross of the Australian Turf Club at the Goffs Yearlings Sale and he suggested the idea. He knew the profile of the horse and thought he could do well in Australia.”

Success Days is rated 25/1 chance by Australia’s TAB betting service, while Winx is trading at around the 1/5 mark.

Condon added: “They invariably get some cut in the ground around this time of year which will suit and I was encouraged to see Johannes Vermeer do so well down there as Success Days has close form with him last season.”
