DANSILI’S early stallion sons include the blacktype sires Harbinger, Rail Link and Strategic Prince, but his more recent ones feature the successful stallions Bated Breath, Famous Name, Requinto and Zoffany.

The last-named was a leading freshman of 2015 and the standout second crop sire of 2016. The other three had their first juveniles in action in 2016, notching up an eye-catching aggregate of winners and blacktype horses between them.

The Irish National Stud’s Famous Name, one of the most prolific stakes winners of the modern era, was represented by the Hugo Palmer-trained Escobar (dam by Brief Truce), winner of the Listed Washington Singer Stakes over seven furlongs at Newbury from just three starts. That €105,000 Goffs Orby Sale graduate comes from the family of the Group 1 stars Soldier’s Tale and Lemon Souffle and holds an entry in the Group 1 Investec Derby.

Famous Name made a seven-length winning debut over six furlongs at Naas in July of his juvenile season, which makes it no surprise that he is capable of getting blacktype two-year-olds, but this is a horse who won 20 times in listed and pattern company from three to seven years of age.

He was best from eight to 10 furlongs, was beaten by just a head when runner-up to Vision D’Etat in the Group 1 French Derby, and he is related to one of the world’s most famous racehorses, a profile that suggests his best results will come with his three-year-olds and older horses.

Famous Name is a full-brother to the dual Group 3 scorer Big Break and to last year’s listed winner Discipline, and he is a half-brother to Grade 3 scorer Renown (by Champs Elysees) and the stakes winner Zaminast (by Zamindar).

His winning dam is out of a half-sister to Rambuskha (by Roberto), the stakes-winning grandam of Makybe Diva (by Desert King). That outstanding mare won the Group 1 Cox Plate and the Group 1 Australian Cup over 10 furlongs, the Group 1 BMW Classic over 12 furlongs, and her string of other pattern wins included the Group 2 Memsie Stakes over seven furlongs at Caulfield, which came just over two months before her historic third Group 1 Melbourne Cup victory.

Won twenty-one races, £1,263,350, from 6 furlongs to 1 mile 2 furlongs, 2 to 7 years including, Keeneland Royal Whip Stakes, Curragh, Gr.2, Amethyst Stakes, Leopardstown, Gr.3 (twice), Desmond Stakes, Curragh, Gr.3, International Stakes, Curragh, Gr.3 (3 times), Meld Stakes, Leopardstown, Gr.3 (3 times), 2000 Guineas Trial Stakes, Leopardstown, Gr.3, Solonaway Stakes, Curragh, Gr.3, Amethyst Stakes, Leopardstown, Gr.3, also placed second in Grosser Dallmayr Bayerisches Zuchtrennen, Munich, Gr.1, Prix du Jockey Club, Chantilly, Gr.1, Prix du Moulin de Longchamp, Longchamp, Gr.1, Tattersalls Gold Cup, Curragh, Gr.1 (twice), and third in Red Mills Irish Champion Stakes, Leopardstown, Gr.1, Tattersalls Gold Cup, Curragh, Gr.1.

Retired to Stud in 2013, and sire of the winners of 6 races, and £76,236, including ESCOBAR (IRE)
