THE graduates of the eight previous Goresbridge Breeze-Up Sales for flat racers have certainly made an impact, as auctioneers Michael Donohoe & Sons point out. They have fetched prices up to €170,000 and they include many winners, among them Music Show and Barefoot Lady, the heroines of the 2010 and 2011 runnings of the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket.
Music Show was bought for only €16,000 and also scored in the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes and the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes, besides running third in the Irish 1000 Guineas. Dutch Masterpiece was the champion 3-year-old sprinter in Ireland, Willyconker won the Grade 1 Frank E Kilroe Mile Stakes at Santa Anita, Blue De Vega was a Group-winning 2-year-old in 2015 and Fiesolana scored in the Group 1 Matron Stakes and was sold for 960,000 guineas.
The auction will be held at the Sales Complex at Goresbridge in Co Kilkenny at 10.00am on Friday, May 20th, after breezing at the nearby Gowran Park racecourse at 12.00 noon on the Thursday.
The catalogue is again the largest in Europe for a Breeze-Up Sale and contains 256 selected two-year-olds, including sons or daughters of such star stallions as Acclamation, Arcano, Big Bad Bob, Bushranger, Canford Cliffs, Casamento, Dark Angel, Dream Ahead, Helmet, Holy Roman Emperor, Kheleyf, Kodiac, Lawman, Lope de Vega, Pivotal, Rip Van Winkle, Royal Applause, Shamardal, Sir Percy, Zebedee, Zoffany, et cetera.
