BERTRAM Allen was back in the prizes at Chantilly last Sunday, taking second place in the 1.60m Masters Airbus Cup at the five-star meeting with the nine-year-old gelding Belmonde.

The Wexford rider had set the target early in the 16-strong jump-off, going clear in 36.77 seconds. However his effort was just bettered by Belgian Constant Van Paesschen, and Diamanthina Van T Ruytershof who crossed the line in 36.71 to grab the win.
