GO Conquer is appropriately named, given the way he sets out to control his races from the front, and he did just that in the Sodexo Gold Cup at Ascot last weekend.

He was very good. He saves energy by always jumping well and was foot perfect. He had some good form in the book last season; he ran very well at the Festival when he was fifth after setting the pace and then was almost brought to a standstill in the Topham. He’s been talked about as a Randox Health Grand National contender, so it would be great to have another crack at the Aintree fences, although that’s clearly a long way off.
