GALWAY’s Jessica Burke made her journey to Millstreet worthwhile when taking the top prize in Sunday morning’s CSI1* two-phase class. The Galway native produced the fastest of the six clears in the second phase (28.90 seconds) with Brian McClintock’s 14-year-old mare Faluna, stealing the lead from John Floody (Craigmanus Hold Up Diamond) who had held pole position for much of the class (29.74 seconds).

Tori Dunn’s time of 31.35 seconds saw her notch up another international placing with Tom Reed’s Ballistic M2S for Hadley Sport Horses as she took third in the final standings, while clear rounds from British visitors Chloe Page (Epke, Lord Boy) and John Brannen (Helsinki) earned them much sought after Millstreet green rosettes.

Elsewhere on the final day, Timmy Doyle (Casino B) took the top prize in a hotly contested 1.20m - 1.25m Final which saw only 11 of the 39 starters record double-clear rounds. The Kanturk rider’s time of 26.83 seconds relegated Thomas O’Brien (Zizico) to second in the final standings (27.13 seconds), just ahead of fellow Galway rider Sven Hadley (Jessy Van De Heide) (27.62 seconds).

Hadley went two places better in the following 1.10m - 1.15m final which proved to be an equally competitive affair. Partnering with Fintan Devanney’s eight year old gelding Frank Flash, a time of 25.79 seconds secured victory over Kate McKeown (Oxendene Rozi) and Paul McDermott (Portglorian Cruise). In the 1m Final, Laois rider Peter Brady took nearly three seconds off the target time to take home the red rosette with his own long-time partner Hollymount Cruise Hill.

Earlier in the day, renowned musician Liam O’Connor scored his second win of the week when taking top honours in the 80-90cm class with his 15-year-old mare Parkmore Reeba.
