CO Down’s Dermott Lennon scored a podium finish in the four-star 1.60m Grand Prix of Amsterdam aboard the brilliant Irish Sport Horse mare Loughview Lou Lou.

The 15-year-old by Limmerick, who is owned by Judith Sossick from Co Antrim, jumped one of nine first round clears over the big track and went on to produce another superb clear against the clock in 38.85 seconds to finish in third place on the podium and pick up close to €12,000.

Sossick’s mare has been a long time servant for Lennon and the pair won the five-star Grand Prix of Gijon last August.

Frenchman Patrice Delaveau enjoyed a good show at the Dutch venue and brought that form to Sunday’s Grand Prix with Lacrimoso 3 HDC, breaking the beam in 37.14 seconds, the fastest of five double clears in the second round.

Belgium’s Pieter Devos took second place with Dream Of India Greenfield, just 0.2 of a second faster than Lennon in 38.64.

Bertram Allen guided Noel Delahunty’s Hector van d’Abdijhoeve (by Cabrio van de Heffinck) to jump clear in the opening round.

However, the talented 10-year-old stallion dropped one rail in the jump-off to finish in eighth place overall.

On Saturday night, Lennon was joint runner-up of the Six Bar class, once again aboard Loughview Lou Lou.

The combination had a great run before faulting at the final fence in the fourth round to finish on the same score as Leon Thijssen and Aken Utopia.

Dutch rider Michael Greeve and Emir R were the only combination to go clear in the fourth round to collect the winner’s prize of almost €4,000.

ALLEN IN THE MONEY

Bertram Allen was in the prize money in Saturday evening’s Accumulator class, picking up €1,000 when finishing fourth aboard Quiet Easy.

Allen and the 13-year-old gelding by Quidam’s Rubin picked up the maximum 65 points in a time of 51.99, behind Dutch winner Lisa Nooren and VDL Groep Urane de Talma (50.03).

In Friday’s 1.50m jump-off, Allen placed fifth aboard Hector van d’Abdijhoeve. After picking up a single time fault in round one, the 21-year old was foot perfect against the clock to record a time of 43.39. Dutch rider Jur Vrieling was victorious with VDL Glasgowv/h Merelsnest (0/0 33.15).

Izzy By Picobello also picked up a minor placing in Friday’s 1.45m. The nine-year-old gelding by Cicero Z jumped double clear in 31.45 seconds in a class won by Germany’s Marcus Ehning.
