DERRY show jumper Jordan Coyle produced yet another top result with the 10-year-old gelding Eristov when winning the four-star Grand Prix in Balvanera, Mexico.

Twenty-seven combinations started over the first round, when Coyle was one of three to produce a clear round. Returning for the jump-off, he saw off the Mexican challengers to take victory when breaking the beam in 40.48 seconds.

Alberto Sanchez-Cozar finished less than a second behind aboard Union de la Nutria (0/0 41.60), ahead of Miguel Angel Torres Hernandez who finished with four faults against the clock in a time of 46.95.

The victory for Coyle and Elan Farm’s Cicero Z van Paemel gelding comes off the back of their biggest career win in the World Cup qualifier at Leon, Mexico in February, when he described the horse as “naturally very fast”, adding: “I don’t think there are many horses in the world that are as good as him.”

Coyle also won the 1.35m two-phase class on the day. Riding Elan Farm’s 15-year-old stallion Quarto Mail, he galloped to victory in a time of 26.19 seconds.
