LAST weekend’s Cork Show marked the midway point of the popular Munster Connolly’s Red Mills Grand Prix series.

Now in its ninth year, the Connolly’s Red Mills Munster Grand Prix League is an integral part of the show jumping season. It has proven very successful and caters for a broad range of riders from both seasoned professionals to younger riders.

Jane Davis of Connolly’s Red Mills told The Irish Field: “The Munster Grand Prix League is a great part of our summer sponsorship programme and means a lot to us at Connolly’s Red Mills to support showjumping at this level. The 2018 series has been a very exciting league so far.”

Galway’s Sven Hadley, who has racked up a double of wins, spoke highly of the series, saying: ‘‘The Connolly’s Red Mills Grand Prix Series is a fantastic league as it allows older horses to be competed with good prize money on offer. However, the height of the fences are not too big to overface the younger horses, allowing riders to compete the seven-year-old horses.

“In addition, the winners of each class at every show are also kindly awarded vouchers for Connolly’s Red Mills which is an excellent incentive on top of a generous total of prize money.

“The fences are supplied by the SJI Munster Region and are great, providing a welcoming course for each rider and horse. With the league open to any rider and horse to compete at Grand Prix level, it is an excellent attribute to show jumping competitions in Munster.”
