SVEN Hadley dominated the Gain Alltech 1.20m class at Emerald’s two-day Autumn Grand Prix Show last Sunday, taking the win with Make It Easy HSH when fastest of the 34 clears in a time of 58.02 seconds.
He also took third place with the seven-year-old Maximum Numero Too HSH stopping the clock in 58.77. He returned to take fifth place with HSH Harper Du Seigneur when he clocked 59.85. Billy Sinnott and Ridge Douglas Lady took the runner-up spot when they were less than a second behind Hadley in 58.32. Accounting for eventual fourth was Charlotte Butler aboard Olwyn Alexander’s Kingston King, clear in 59.51. Rounding off the top six was Dylan Ward and Lagans Candy Boy, in a time of 61.70.
Lucy McCarthy went one better on Sunday as she took the win in the Cheval-sponsored 1.10m class with Maggiemae, with a clear in 28.34. Junior rider Caoimhe O’Meara and Susie Quatro took the runner-up spot, with a clear in 29.33. Amateur rider Aoife Maguire (A) and Pharos Hazy Cove accounted for third place with a clear in 29.42, ahead of Charlotte Butler and Kingston King, clear in 30.62. Fifth place belonged to Lucy Gaffney and World of Orestus (30.93), while in sixth was Olwyn Alexander and Faline (31.11).
Winner of the Equieire 1m class on Sunday was Kevin O’Reilly and Cranny West when they lodged a clear in 25.29. O’Reilly’s closest rival was Aoife Maguire (A) and Pharos Hazy Cove, clear in 26.84, ahead of Alice Manoliu and Money Quid Queen in 29.34. Rhiannon Maher (A) and Full Of Beans Rm accounted for fourth place (31.25), while in fifth was Shauna Furlong and Lhe Bella Mon Ami in 31.58. A clear from Alan Swan and El Acorado Bogibo in 31.60 saw them take sixth.

On Saturday, it was young rider James Brennan and the six-year-old MHS Zenyatta that took the win in the Circulo 1.30m class, when they were fastest of 27 double clears in 56.13. Owned and bred by Sinéad Brennan, the seven-year-old is by Ganesh Hero Z out of MHS With Pleasure.
Sven Hadley and Quantino also featured in this line-up, taking the runner-up spot when coming home in 58.23. Cathal Daniels and Cappog Tommy secured third place with a clear in 59.19, ahead of Niamh O’Connor Barry and Drumiller Vegas, in a time of 60.15. Young rider Anna White and Gsa Oscar accounted for fifth place when they stopped the clock in 62.78, while in sixth was The Irish Field’s Brendan McArdle and his home-bred Brackley’s Lulu in 62.97.
Speed merchant against the clock, Sven Hadley took first and second places in the Allenkeyfittings 1.20m class on Saturday. Riding Make It Easy HSH, he lodged a clear in 58.50 and took home the winner’s share of the €1,000 prize fund. He claimed the runner-up place with Uidam when they stopped the clock with nothing to add in 59.10.
Jennifer Burke accounted for the next two placings, taking third with her own Keelnacally Cobra Clover, clear in 60.48, and fourth with Liam Clancy’s Corraghoe Steel in 61.85. A clear from Angela Kosko and Happyness R in 62.34 saw them take fifth, ahead of amateur rider, Lorraine Younge (AA) and Belfield Flight (63.06).
Amateur riders were out in force as they filled the top 10 places in the Plusvital 1m (Inc Amateur) class. Leading the victory lap was Kevin O’Reilly (AA) and Cranny West when they lodged a clear in 25.04. He was chased home by Amanda-Jayne Comyn (A) and Eirian Gatsby, clear in 25.73. Ciara Kelly (A) and Juan Amigo also kept the poles in place in a time of 26.04 for third place. Fourth place belonged to Denise Byrne (A) and Cara Aurora, when they delivered a clear in 26.97, ahead of Suzann McLoughlin (A) and Amber Ferro (28.03). Lisa Doran (A) and Cassanovas Diamond completed the top six, when clear in 28.15.
Kevin O’Reilly took another win when he partnered Cranny West to victory in Saturday’s 1.10m class. The pair were fastest of 32 double clears in 25.39. Junior rider Lucy McCarthy took the runner-up spot with Barbara Hargaden’s eight-year-old Maggiemae, in a time of 26.11. Not content with the runner-up spot, McCarthy also took third place with Gernon Rs, in a time of 27.54. Ciara Kelly (A) and Juan Amigo took fourth when they came home in 27.77, while in fifth was fellow amateur rider Lorraine Younge (AA) and Adieu Flight (27.89). Amanda-Jayne Comyn and Eirian Gatsby completed the top six, when they clocked 27.99.
