THE eight-year-old gelding Make it Easy lived up to his name when winning the 1.30m Speed class, sponsored by Castlefield Breeding Farm, on Sunday morning at Cavan.

Owned and ridden by Sven Hadley, the pair saw off stiff competition from a field of 67 who went to post for the €2,000 class.

Hadley produced his winning time of 53.27 quite early on as 26th to go and held his lead throughout.

Shane Goggins came closest to catching him aboard David O’Loughlin’s eight-year-old mare SVS Ashford Zodiac (Elvis Ter Putte x Je T’Aime Flamenco), bred by Brian Hutchinson. They broke the finish beams in 55.14 for second place.

Claire Crawford’s Dutch-bred gelding Jackstar (Zavall x Sheraton) was ridden into third place by Pataire Crawford on 55.76.

Hadley and his second mount, the home-bred stallion HSH Harper du Seigneur (Aganix Du Seigneur x Chippison), were late to go and posted a time of 55.98 for fourth.

Junior Ruby Lily Gaines rode her mother Jacqueline’s Castle Lux Clover (Boherdeal Clover x Lux Z), bred by Jennifer Devlin, to fifth place in 56.26, while Dylan Ward and Quality Sport Horses’ six-year-old Lagans Candy Boy (Sligo Candy Boy x Quick Star), bred by Peter Rice, completed the line up in sixth in 56.66.
