COILÓG played host to a round of the Mervue Equine Leinster Summer Tour last Sunday with large entries being recorded in each division, despite desperate weather conditions.

In the 1.35m section, a total of 39 went to post and from those 11 delivered double clears. Taking the win was Sven Hadley when he came home in a time of 28.65 aboard the seven-year-old Maximum Numero Too Hsh. Bred by Eamon McArdle, the gelding is by Aganix Du Seigneur out of the Numero Uno-sired Couple of Diamonds. This combination finished second in the round at Barnadown.

Gemma Phelan was back in the ribbons when taking the runner-up spot with Hilda Anthony’s Ardnore Canann (Kannan x Chello III VDL) in a time of 29.05. Francis Connors took third and fifth place. He delivered his best result with Raymond McChesney’s RNH Valentino in 29.65. The Waterford rider also took fifth with Brian Daly’s seven-year-old Newmarket Darsouilles in a time of 30.34.

Slotting into fourth place was Dylan Ward and the seven-year-old Aganix De La Mer, owned by Hugh Ward, in a time of 30 seconds. A clear from Gemma Phelan aboard Thomas Hyland’s Greenacres Cicero in 30.40 was enough to take sixth place.

1.20m

A total of 38 combinations lined out for the 1.20m Mervue Equine league on Saturday which included the Leinster young rider league.

Claiming this victory was young rider Millie McNaughton when she partnered David Miley’s Ship Shape to a clear in 28.95 in the two-phase class.

The 11-year-old mare by Lancelot was bred by James Dunne out of Clonbron Cavalier. This is the second good result for this combination who also claimed the round in Ballivor the week before.

JP Meegan and the Heather Steele-owned six-year-old Ballynanny 4 took the runner-up spot when clear in 32.05. Leinster young rider Jessica Reid and Ballyorney Bubbles took third (32.52), ahead of Tadhg Beecher and Loughnatousa Olaf (32.89). Young rider Lauren Murphy and Cruiceraths Antonio took fifth (33.75), while rounding up the top six was Eva Melly and Wolf Vegas (33.91).

The 1.10m section on Saturday also included the Leinster Young Rider league and attracted the biggest number of entries, with 59 going to post.

Taking the win was Laura Walsh (AA) with the ever-consistent Ballinaguilkey Heritage, when clear in 26.98. This home-bred 12-year-old mare is by Heritage Fortunus and is out of the Ramiro B mare Cavalier Milly.

The line-up was dominated by Amateur riders as they filled four of the top six placings. Claiming the runner-up spot and the young rider prize was Charlotte Butler and Kingston King when they came home clear in 27.20. Third place belonged to Marie Harley (AA) and Nikita Van Het Heidenhof (28.63), while in fourth was Gary Flynn (AA) and Argento Cruise (28.98). A clear in 29.95 was enough to secure fifth place for Jim Donohoe and Cushlas Du Mondale, while in sixth was John Tracy (A) and Blossom Mama Tina (29.95).

Coilóg Amateur Mini Grand Prix

Leading the victory lap in the Botanica-sponsored CoilÓg Amateur Mini Grand Prix was Aoife Maguire (A) and Pharos Hazy Cove when clear in 38.04. The runner-up spot belonged to Tommy M Parr (A) and Irresistible (44.51), while in third was Mia Browne and Empress Nalal clear in 45.73.

Suzann McLoughlin (A) and Amber Ferro won the Orchard Equestrian Amateur Grand Prix, sponsored by Derek Burke, when they delivered a clear in 40.06.

Mia Browne took another runner-up spot aboard Empress Nala when they came home in 41.52. Slotting into third place was Joseph Moore (A) and Master De Reve (42.58).
