THE Nugentstown Show hosted the penultimate qualifiers in the Tattersalls Ireland Treo Eile Showing Pathway Series on July 18th. It is positive to see new and seasoned combinations availing of the rewards for thoroughbreds within showing. Judges Grainne Moore (conformation) and Soul-be Adgey Courtney (riding) were thankful of the light breeze as they commenced a day’s judging in this recent hot spell.

Emma Brady resumed her equestrian career following her veterinary studies with a win in the Novice section with Somethingboutnelly. Now working for the Foley and Smith practice in Kells, Brady sourced the mare by Court Cave from trainer David Harvey, post four runs over hurdles.

Also qualifying for the final at the Tattersalls Show taking second was Aisling McGillicuddy with Oppenheimer Blue. The seven-year-old Diamond Boy gelding ran three times in point-to-points.

Once the class with the smaller entries, the Open classes have seen an increase in entries and level of competitiveness this year. A copybook performance saw Emily McMahon and the 16-year-old Native River take the red in this section. All roads lead to the Dublin Horse Show for the 2018 Gold Cup winner, who will now take in the Tattersalls Ireland Treo Eile Showing Pathway final en route. With an added string to their bow, this combination went on to stand second in the side saddle class and Reserve Champion later in the day.

Coming in a close second and also qualifying for the final was the ever-consistent Bobby Cool and Miia Ruuskanen. The grey by Alhebayeb has been a wonderful partner for Miia and owner/breeder Liisa Rantamaki.

The last qualifier in the Series will take place at the Tattersalls July Show today (July 25th), with the final at the same venue on the following day.
