DERRY’S Jordan Coyle showed he meant business at the Major League Show Jumping fixture in Toronto, Canada over the weekend, when he won the two-star $46,000 1.45m qualifier on Friday on board Action T.

Out of 44 starters, 18 jumped clear in round one, with 17 of those jumping a second time and 12 maintaining a clean sheet. Coyle’s double clear in a jump-off time of 34.44 seconds proved to be the fastest to take the top prize of $11,500.

Coyle wasn’t the only Irish winner at the venue. International classes in Toronto kicked off on Thursday and saw Down’s Conor Swail steering Casturano to win the five-star MLSJ 1.40m Two-phase class from 21 starters. Swail jumped double clear in a jump-off time of 26.61 to secure the top spot. Jordan’s brother Daniel Coyle and Gisborne VDL placed sixth in the class.

Runner-up

Jordan Coyle then came very close in the evening’s five-star $90,000 1.50m qualifier, when he ended up as runner-up with Ariso, jumping double clear in 31.59. Kent Farrington (USA) rode Myla into first place in 31.05.

Swail rode Casturano into seventh place in Friday’s five-star $62,500 individual speed class, while the pair were on the second placed Trailblazers team in the $437,500 Major League team competition. Jordan Coyle was on the Rainmakers team who placed third. The top place on the podium went to Maccabi United.

Swail finished on the podium in the five-star $46,000 1.45m Winning Round competition when he placed third with Theo 160.

Swail and Jordan Coyle both finished in the top five of the five-star $500,000 Grand Prix of Toronto with Swail fourth on Casturano and Coyle fifth on Ariso. Daniel Coyle placed ninth in the class riding Gisborne VDL.

David O’Brien won the $25,000 1.35m/1.40m National Grand Prix with Coleccini to conclude the show for Ireland.
