2.05 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF FILLIES MAIDEN 7F

Broadway should take plenty of beating following her fine third to Lightening Quick in the Athasi Stakes over this course and distance 13 days previously. That indicates that a maiden success is well within her reach and she is hard to oppose. Scriobh Nua holds an Irish 1000 Guineas entry and certainly catches the eye on pedigree as she is a half-sister to a host of high-class runners. She is a very interesting newcomer and it wouldn’t come as any surprise to see her go close. Wishing Star showed up well on her debut behind I Can Fly last year and she should be able to improve on her comeback fourth behind Terzetto at Dundalk earlier this month.

2.40 OWENSTOWN STUD STAKES (LISTED) 7F

Last season’s Marble Hill Stakes winner Brother Bear made an encouraging return to action at this track recently when he was beaten less than 1l into third by Imaging in the Tetrarch Stakes. That run suggested that the Kodiac colt could be placed to further advantage at stakes level. He is preferred to the talented Riyazan who won two of his four starts last season and ended his season with a victory in the Listed Star Appeal Stakes at Dundalk. This colt could have a good season in decent company. The former listed winner Ambassadorial shouldn’t be underestimated and the English raider Chessman lines up off a creditable third in quite a smart race at Kempton at the start of the month.

Selection: BROTHER BEAR

3.15 COOLMORE WAR COMMAND ROCHESTOWN STAKES (LISTED) 5F

Sergei Prokofiev is a confident choice and can confirm himself to be one of the most exciting two-year-olds seen out so far this season. He followed a narrow defeat on his debut at Dundalk with a most assured victory at Navan last month which bore all the hallmarks of a top notch juvenile. He is faced with a quartet of interesting winners and perhaps he might have most to fear from Offline who was a decisive winner on his debut at Dundalk in early April. Tarzzan, who was beaten 8l into third by Offline at Dundalk, has since won in Britain to give that form a solid look. Izzer, Andre Amar and Dandys Ocean all look like nice types and shouldn’t be underestimated.

Selection: SERGEI PROKOFIEV

Next best: Offline

3.45 COOLMORE STUD IRISH EBF FILLIES SPRINT STAKES (LISTED) 6F

This could see So Perfect make it two wins from as many starts. This daughter of Scat Daddy looked like one that could shine at a much higher level when she made her debut at Navan last month. She picked up very smartly over the last furlong and a half of that contest to win by a short head and she certainly had more to spare than the winning margin would suggest. So Perfect gets the vote to see off Chicas Amigas whose career got off to a very pleasing start when she won a 6f maiden, against the colts, at Dundalk a few weeks ago. Servalan, a stablemate of Chicas Amigas, was an unlucky loser on her debut and is another to keep in mind along with Skitter Scatter who defeated Sergei Prokofiev when she was having her second run.

Selection: SO PERFECT

4.15 GOFFS LACKEN STAKES (GROUP 3) 6F

Sioux Nation wasn’t at his best on his return to action at Navan last month when finishing a well beaten fourth to The Broghie Man. However, he could now do much better as he is switching back to a sound surface and his trainer’s three-year-olds do tend to step forward dramatically from their first runs of the season. A stiff challenge could come from Speak In Colours. That one was beaten just a short head in the Navan race and there is surely more to come from him after just three runs.

Now You’re Talking showed up well in a very competitive fillies’ listed race here last time and she could easily make her presence felt.

Selection: SIOUX NATION

4.45 DOOLEY INSURANCE GROUP SUPPORTING NAAS PARISH HANDICAP 1M

A speculative vote goes to the returning Raphael who must have a chance on the best of his form last season. On his final start of 2017 this gelding was a close fourth in a Curragh nursery won by Warm The Voice. Medal Of Honour and Bond Street were both in front of Raphael that day but there wasn’t a great deal between them then and that should again be the case as Kevin Prendergast’s charge is slightly better off at the weights. Bond Street won a Dundalk maiden last season on his penultimate start and followed up with a second to Hand On Heart in a Curragh conditions race. He should be closely involved. Caffe Macchiato followed his premier handicap success at Navan with a decent showing at Chester last week and he shouldn’t be too far away either.

Selection: RAPHAEL

Next best: Bond Street

5.15 KILDARE POST & KILDARE NOW HANDICAP 7F

Gunmaker is a hopeful choice in a race where quite a few of the runners need to bounce back to their best. This four-year-old made a winning debut for Gavin Cromwell when he picked up a 7f handicap at Dundalk in January for which he received a 9lbs hike in the ratings. There could well be more to come from this relatively lightly raced four-year-old who is chosen ahead of Mr Ormsby. The latter didn’t run up to his best last time but his previous third to Fashaar at Dundalk was a good run and he was successful on his third last outing. Fashaar is another to keep in mind as he is a mere 3lbs higher than when winning that Dundalk race two months ago.

Selection: GUNMAKER

Next best: Mr Ormsby
