12.50 INH STALLION OWNERS EBF MAIDEN HURDLE 2M
Barrington Court is a solid option. After her impressive comeback in a Navan bumper, she made her hurdling debut at this track several weeks ago and she lost little in defeat in being beaten 3l into third by the Cheltenham Bumper winner Relegate and the very smart Caravation.
She should be all the better for that experience and she can deal with Valdieu who ran a succession of good races in bumpers before getting off the mark at Down Royal last week where he ran out an easy 10l winner.
Final List and Queens Boulevard, who have both won bumpers, are the pick of the remainder.
SELECTION: BARRINGTON COURT
Next best: Valdieu
1.20 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF NOVICE CHASE 2M
His jumping has given cause for concern in the past and has to concede 6lbs to a capable rival in Articulum, but Campeador should still prevail. The talented grey has had jumping issues in the past (falling in four of his last seven runs) but last time out at Fairyhouse he produced a very convincing round of jumping before a smooth 3½l success over the subsequent winner Roaring Bull. That effort suggested that he could make up into a novice chaser of note and he is taken to see off Articulum.
The latter was rated 132 as a hurdler and got his chasing career off to an encouraging start by finishing a 7½l second to the high-class Getabird at Punchestown last month.
SELECTION: CAMPEADOR
Next best: Articulum
2.20 EASTCOAST SEAFOOD & GOULDINGS HARDWARE HANDICAP CHASE 2M
Arvico Bleu’s last few efforts make for good reading and would suggest that he will take beating. His 1¾l second to the subsequent Grade 1 winner Le Richebourg at Listowel in September was a good run and he was a respectable second to another recent Grade 1 winner, Hardline, next time out. His last effort yielded a second to the useful Duca De Thaix in decent handicap chase at Fairyhouse.
Those performances earn him the vote over Punches Cross, who is 8lbs higher in the weights for his recent course and distance win, which was achieved at a lower level than this.
Dakota Moirette isn’t without a chance as he was running respectably in a useful beginners’ chase last week before exiting at the last.
SELECTION: ARVICO BLEU
Next best: Punches Cross
2.50 ADARE MANOR OPPORTUNITY HANDICAP HURDLE (80-109) 2M
Ming Dynasty has plenty of weight, but his last two runs would indicate that he should mount a strong challenge for this prize.
His 2l-second to Clementina (a winner again on Tuesday) at Fairyhouse last month is a good run, and last time out at Limerick he travelled notably well before not quite finding as much as expected when third to Smoking Gun in a rated novice hurdle.
He is certainly good enough to win off his current rating and he is preferred to Eviscerating who looked as though he might appreciate coming back in distance when he faded out of contention to finish in midfield behind Askari over 2m6f at Navan last month.
SELECTION: MING DYNASTY
Next best: Eviscerating
3.20 IRISH STALLION FARMS EBF MARES BEGINNERS CHASE 2M
Recent fitness makes High School Days the choice here. This six-year-old was a decent sort over hurdles and progressed to a rating of 137 at one point last season, and she showed good improvement from her chasing debut to finish a very respectable 9l sixth to Camelia De Cotte in a Grade 3 at Cork last month.
That last run would indicate High School Days will have no trouble making her mark in a mares’ beginners’ chase and she is preferred to the long absent Missy Tata.
The latter is a very smart sort and has won her last five starts but she hasn’t been in action since landing a listed event at Limerick just over two years ago and such an absence leaves her at a disadvantage.
SELECTION: HIGH SCHOOL DAYS
Next best: Missy Tata
3.50 RUSHE’S SUPERVALU (PRO/AM) FLAT RACE 2M
Zambezir is no more than a hopeful choice in the first four-year-old bumper of the year. This gelding, whose stable won this race two years ago, is a half-brother to a host of winners including the Group 3-placed flat runner Lancetto who went on to reach the frame at Grade 1 level as a chaser.
Top Moon, a son of Laurina’s sire Spanish Moon and from a French family, represents formidable connections and appeals as being able to play a leading role.
Long March is interesting as this American-bred son of Bellamy Road is out of an own-sister to the Hong Kong-based Group 1 victor Giant Treasure and an American Grade 2 winner.
SELECTION: ZAMBEZIR
Next best: Top Moon
