A total of €135,000 was raised for injured jockey Kaitlyn Ryan at Goffs on Tuesday morning.
Minutes before the second day of the Orby Sale got underway, four stallion nominations were auctioned with proceeds going to the 21-year-old who suffered a serious spinal cord injury on the gallops recently.
Juddmonte paid €60,000 for a nomination to City Of Troy donated by Coolmore Stud. Wendy O'Leary of Lynn Lodge Stud bought a nomination to Zavateri who will stand at Tally-Ho Stud next season for €25,000. Stanley Lodge signed at €45,000 for a Bayside Boy nomination donated by Ballylinch Stud. A nomination to Yeomanstown Stud's Mill Stream was also sold.
All proceeds from the auction will go directly to the family toward funding Kaitlyn’s ongoing care, rehabilitation, and long-term recovery.
Speaking on behalf of Ballylinch, Yeomanstown, Tally-Ho, and the local Fethard community, M.V. Magnier said: "We were all deeply saddened to hear of Kaitlyn’s injury. She is a talented, hard-working young rider from our local community in Fethard, and the courage she and her family are showing is an inspiration to us all. Racing and breeding are tight-knit industries and when one of our own faces a challenge like this everyone steps up.
"We hope these nominations, alongside the incredible support from our fellow stud farms, generates significant funds for Kaitlyn’s ongoing care."
