Ryan Moore hit with seven-day ban

PRECEDING the Cox Plate winner Adelaide’s lacklustre return in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes on unsuitably soft ground, jockey Ryan Moore was handed a seven-day suspension from the Australian Oaks after allowing the Coolmore part-owned Ballet Suite to shift in at the first turn causing Savaria to be checked. “I made an error and I’d say careless,” Moore told stewards.

Sacred Falls to Waikato

The dual Doncaster Mile winner Sacred Falls has been retired to stand at Waikato Stud. The son of O’Reilly out of the Redoute’s Choice mare Iguazu’s Girl will stand his maiden season for NZ$30,000 +gst.

“We’ve always wanted to stand O’Reilly’s (O’Reilly passed away in 2014) best son and this season we will be doing so with the brilliant four-time Group 1 winner Sacred Falls,” said principal Mark Chittick. Sacred Falls will stand alongside New Zealand’s leading sire Savabeel whose fee has been raised to $100,000 +gst, up from $60,000.

Deep Field retired to Newgate Farm

Following a pair of sub-par performances in Sydney, Deep Field, the Northern Meteor full-brother to the Caulfield Guineas winner Shooting To Win, out of the Elusive Quality mare Listen Here, has been retired to Newgate Farm.

A winner of his first five starts, including an 1,100 metre course record at Canterbury, Deep Field raced three more times for two placings, including third in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes. A fee is yet to be announced.

NZB Weanling and Broodmare catalogue

New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale is now available online. The sale will be held from May 11th to 13th and includes of 349 weanlings and 182 broodmares as well as a variety of mixed stock.

The dam of Saturday’s Group 1 Australian Oaks winner Gust Of Wind, the Irish-bred Starrystarrynight was a NZ$180,000 purchase from the 2010 catalogue.
