RANVET STAKES

(GROUP 1)

FIRST-UP since running 15 lengths shy of Almandin on an unsuitably firm Emirates Melbourne Cup track, the imported Our Ivanhowe has delivered on his ability with a clear-cut win in the Rosehill Group 1 Ranvet Stakes over 2,000 metres at weight-for-age .

Trained by Lee and Anthony Freedman, the German-bred Soldier Hollow entire won by just over three lengths from the British-bred Hartnell with the Irish-bred The United States third.

“The agent in Germany who sold him said this is the best wet tracker in the world, now we just have to find another (wet track),” said Anthony Freedman.

“The horse deserves his day in the sun. He is a gentleman, and we’re very grateful to have a horse who is so genuine.”

Our Ivanhowe has been kept safe on the third line of betting for the Sydney Cup on April 8th and the co-favourites remain last year’s Australian Derby winner Tavago and the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Antonio Giuseppe.
