Allen lands Victorian Premiership
WHILE Jamie Kah has swept all before her smashing the Victorian Metropolitan Jockeys’ record by crowning her Premiership with 105 winners, Johnny Allen took the State title.
Fifth the previous season, Allen rode 144 winners to claim the Victorian Jockeys’ Premiership four ahead of Kah. Ciaron Maher and David Eustace were the dominant stable in the State winning both the Metropolitan and Victorian titles with 73 and 228 winners respectively.
In New South Wales, James McDonald was the premier jockey winning the Sydney Premiership with 131 winners as Chris Waller added an 11th consecutive Sydney Trainers’ Premiership to his record with 169 winners, 110 ahead of his nearest rival James Cummings.
Having won the New South Wales Apprentice Premiership the previous season, Tom Sherry has made his mark in town winning the Sydney Metropolitan Apprentice Premiership with 40 winners.
