So so so happy Crystal Ocean got his grade 1 today. An absolutely amazing horse who fully deserved it. Dug in deep and passed the line first.

Urgh. Just been gallingly denied a breakthrough @clonakilty winner at Royal Ascot. Clon Coulis, owned by @ClonakiltyBP ‘s Colette Twomey, thwarted by a whisker by last year’s runner-up Afaak in the Hunt Cup. Maybe next year!

As a fan, pretty happy Crystal Ocean has finally bagged a Group 1. Simply too good a horse to have that missing from his CV. Another unbelievable job from Stoute with an older horse, for all Crystal Ocean helps him by being the ultimate pro.
Attendance
The crowd on the second day of Royal Ascot 2019 came to 39,386 as against 41,495 last year.
Velazquez banned
There were a few inquiries after the Queen Mary Stakes. Ickworth was deemed to be a runner despite not coming out of the stalls. John Velazquez, the rider of Kimar, who was placed second, was suspended for nine days and fined £350 for using his whip above the permitted level and in an incorrect place from approximately a furlong and a half out.
