THE Greyabbey-based operation Tolerton Bloodstock were this week celebrating the success of the James Given-trained Gift In Time who landed the five-furlong novice race for two-year-olds at Chester last Saturday.

Having his third start, the Society Rock colt is the fourth of five recorded foals out of the unraced Cadeaux Genereux mare Gift Of Time, a half-sister to six winners from the family of Dubawi Gold, Third Watch, Triple First, etc.

It was a good week for northern breeders of flat horses with Dean Harron, in partnership with Ciaran Conroy, producing I Am Power who impressed when winning the five-furlong two-year-old auction maiden at Navan last Friday evening on his debut.

Trained by Michael O’Callaghan, the Power colt is the third of four recorded foals out of the US-bred Bridge Note (by Stravinsky), an own-sister to the Group 1 winner Soldier’s Tale and dam of two previous winners in Danish Duke (by Duke Of Marmalade) and Jaarih (by Starspangledbanner).

Downpatrick-based Charles Foy bred Byron Beauty who visited the winners’ enclosure for the third time following her victory in the one-mile, three-furlong fillies’ handicap at Killarney on Wednesday for the Harry Rogers yard.

The nine-year-old, who also has numerous placings in her record, is the fifth of eight recorded foals out of the unraced Sadler’s Wells mare Latin Beauty, a half-sister to the 1994 champion sprinter Owington (by Green Desert).
