The outstanding career of François Doumen

FRANÇOIS Doumen was born on June 11th 1940. The former amateur rider worked as an assistant trainer to his father Jean before taking out his own licence to train in 1977. Forty years later he retired, having enjoyed great success on the flat and over jumps, both in France and around the world.

Married to Elizabeth, they have three sons – Thierry (also a trainer and former jockey), Xavier and Tristan. His biggest winners around the world include:
