THE names of the 13 brave riders who have signed up for the 2026 Corinthian Challenge have been revealed.
To be run at the Curragh on Irish Derby weekend, the 12-furlong race is open to riders of all backgrounds, once they pass the required licensing tests and prove their fitness. All they have to do then is raise €3,000, or as much money as they can for Irish Injured Jockeys.
This year’s participants are Jason Kyne, Patrick Stringer, Ivanna Dempsey, Sarah Lionti, Tara Moneypenny, Robin DePelsmaeker, Graham Atkinson, Paul Callaghan of The Irish Field, Max Foley, Diego Rodrigues da Costa Almeida, Jerry Scully, Bobby Fagan and Alison McMahon.
The Irish Field will carry profiles of each rider in upcoming editions.
Michael Higgins, CEO of Irish Injured Jockeys, said: “Building on the past success of the Corinthian Challenge, our goal is to enhance the event’s appeal for participants, spectators, and the media, especially since it coincides with the Dubai Duty Free Derby weekend. We are truly grateful to this year’s challengers for their remarkable dedication to participating and fundraising for IIJ. The feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive, and we are all excitedly anticipating the big day on Friday, June 26th at the Curragh, which has consistently shown tremendous support for our initiatives.”
