SOME of the team at HRI were shooting a video for their HRI Juniors section, the HRI Juniors Jockey Camp, at the Irish National Stud last Tuesday.

They brought five aspiring jockeys to the Irish National Stud ahead of Longines Irish Champions Weekend due to take place at Leopardstown and the Curragh on September 10th and 11th.

The HRI Juniors met Irish flat jockeys Gary Halpin and Donagh O’Connor as well as some of some of the equine living legends – including Faugheen, Kicking King and Hurricane Fly – and stallions, including Free Eagle and Decorated Knight.

The juniors included aspiring jockeys Archie Manders (8), Ollie Manders (5) and Amelia Doyle (10) from Dublin and Laragh Molloy (8) and Ellen Codd (11) from Wicklow.

Gary and Donagh gave the junior jockeys a tour of the National Stud and brought them through the Irish Racehorse Experience where they learned how to buy, train and look after a horse, as well as riding the horse that they purchased and trained in a mock race.

The Irish National Stud is the ideal location for children to learn about the Irish racing Industry and is open from 10am to 6pm daily.
