A TOTAL of 472 yearlings are due to come under the hammer at the Goffs Orby Sale this year following the addition of the 18-strong draft which forms part of the Wildenstein Stables Ltd dispersal. That dispersal, which includes horses in training to be sold after the Orby yearlings, and breeding stock to be offered in November, will be handled by The Castlebridge Consignment.

As a result of these additional lots, Bill Dwan will offer 42 yearlings under The Castlebridge Consignment banner, easily the largest draft at Goffs. Camas Park Stud and Glenvale Stud will each send a draft of 22 yearlings, while Baroda & Colbinstown Stud’s consignment will consist of 18 lots.

Other leading Irish farms with significant numbers catalogued in the Orby Sale, to be sold on Tuesday and Wednesday September 27th and 28th, are Airlie (13 lots), Ballylinch (14), Barronstown (10), Kildaragh (12), Lynn Lodge (16), Pier House (11), Rathbarry (10), Tinnakill House (10) and Yeomanstown (14).

Last year’s Orby Sale was topped by Miss Pat O’Kelly’s Raven’s Pass filly out of Spirit Of Tara, sold from her Kilcarn Stud to Moyglare Stud Farm for €2 million. This year’s draft of six yearlings from the Co Meath nursery includes her Declaration Of War half-brother, in addition to colts by Galileo and Sea The Stars, and a sole filly by last year’s sale-topping sire.

Mountarmstrong Stud received €1.7 million last year from China Horse Club for a daughter of Frankel and the globe-trotter Alexander Goldrun and that five-time Group 1 winner has a daughter by Shamardal in this year’s sale. Galileo sired the other two millionaire yearlings in 2015 and will have eight colts and two fillies on offer next month.

The fillies are Ballylinch Stud’s sibling to Group 1 winners Lord Shanakill and Together Forever and The Castlebridge Consignment’s own-sister to Irish 1000 Guineas winner Nightime. His colts include Baroda & Colbinstown Studs’ son of the dual Grade 1 winner Dynaforce. That draft also numbers a Frankel daughter of the dual Oaks winner Ramruna.

Frankel has two colts for sale and Camas Park Stud’s son of the exciting first season sire is a half-brother to Group 1 winners Bago and Maxios. Tinnakill House Stud’s draft includes two eye-catching progeny of Shamardal, a half-brother to The Gurkha’s dam and a half-sister to this year’s Irish Derby third Stellar Mass. Another noteworthy member of the consignment is a Street Cry half-sister to Grade 1 winner Dearest Trickski.

With 26 yearlings catalogued Kodiac is the most prolific sire represented and two of his standout fillies are Mount Eaton’s own-sister to this year’s Norfolk Stakes winner Prince Of Lir and Tally-Ho Stud’s half-sister to Grade 1 winner Lahaleeb.

Other siblings to Group 1 winners include Ballylinch Stud’s Sea The Stars half-brother to Prix de l’Abbaye winner Wizz Kid, The Castlebridge Consignment’s Fast Company full-sister to classic winner and £1.3 million sale filly Jet Setting, Roundhill Stud’s Iffraaj own-sister to two and three-year-old Group 1 winner Rizeena and Barnane Stud’s Arcano half-brother to July Cup winner Limato.
