Toast sale

Sheikh Mohammed may be presenting the Dubai World Cup to Frankie Dettori following the unconfirmed purchase this week by Al Shaqab Racing of Breeders’ Cup Classic runner-up Toast Of New York. Dettori is the retained rider for the Qatar-backed Al Shaqab team. Jamie Spencer rode the Jamie Osborne-trained horse to win the UAE Derby last year when the colt was owned by Michael Buckley.

First foals for Coolmore stallions

Two of the first foals by Camelot were born at Coolmore in the last few days. Mora Bai, a half-sister to High Chaparral, produced a half-brother to Group 2 winner David Livingston, and Apparel (a half-sister to Mount Nelson) foaled a filly by the 2000 Guineas and dual Derby winner.

Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes winner Most Improved sired his first foal this week. The bay colt is owned by Emir Alkas and is the first foal out of Hurrem Sultan, a daughter of the stakes winner Ribella and from the family of multiple group race winner Almushtarak.
