SLIGHTLY larger than last year with 264 lots, this year’s Doncaster January Sales catalogue still requires only one day, on Tuesday, January 27th. It is mostly National Hunt breeding stock that will be offered first on that day, which starts with 81 horses in training, both flat and NH, then come 139 yearlings (foals of 2014), a few two-year-olds (foals of 2013) and some broodmares.
In this first auction of 2015, Doncaster Bloodstock Sales cover every aspect of flat and National Hunt racing and breeding, with entries including many winning horses in training on the flat and over jumps, as well as the yearlings and a number of broodmares and stores.
Grade 1 winners Benefficient, Darlan, Riverside Theatre, The Liquidator and Wishfull Thinking have all been sold at the Doncaster January Sales in recent years. Prices up to £300,000 and £240,000 have been paid here for good flat performers ready to go jumping.
