RACING in France in the colours of the Aga Khan, Sageburg did not run until halfway through his three-year-old season, but in mid-June he romped home eight lengths clear of 19 rivals at Chantilly, then a month later won again at Longchamp by two lengths, before completing his hat trick in the Listed Prix Ridgway at Deauville by two and a half lengths.

Still improving, Sageburg was third to Duke Of Marmalade in the Group 1 Prix Ganay on his four-year-old reappearance, before defeating the brilliant filly Darjina in the Group 1 Prix d’Ispahan at Longchamp by two and a half lengths. He completed his illustrious racing career with a fourth to Tamayuz in the Group 1 Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville, third to Goldikova in the Group 1 Prix du Moulin and finally second in the Group 2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein.

Sageburg had his first runners in 2012 and has already made a huge impact on the flat and over jumps with his runners. His daughter Peace Burg scored in the Group 2 Prix de Sandringham and the Group 3 Prix d’Aumale, both at Chantilly, besides running third in the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket, while another filly, Spain Burg, won the Group 2 Rockfel Stakes at Newmarket and was sold for €1,500,000 at the Arc Sale. At Santa Anita, Sageburg had a Grade 2 winner in the Charles Whittingham Stakes with Si Sage, who also won the Grade 3 Last Tycoon Stakes there.

Over jumps, Sageburg is sire of Ch’tibello, who scored in the Grade 2 Scottish Champion Hurdle, while Fou Et Sage and Pyromane both won the Listed Prix Fifrelet Hurdle at Auteuil and Ange d’Amour took a listed hurdle and a listed chase. Pyromane scored in the Listed Prix General de Rougemont Hurdle at Auteuil, while Golden Sage is a new listed hurdle winner in France in 2018.

He has sired 65 stakes winners, including Scat Daddy, the sire of champions No Nay Never and Lady Aurelia. Sageburg’s dam Sage Et Jolie, a daughter of Linamix, won the Group 2 Prix de Malleret at Longchamp and she is an own-sister to the grey Sagamix, winner of the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and a successful sire in France.
