GUTAIFAN’S first foal was born on January 3rd at Guy O’Callaghan’s Grangemore Stud. The filly is very closely associated with the O’Callaghan family on many fronts.

Gutaifan stands alongside his sire Dark Angel at Gay and David O’Callaghan’s Yeomanstown Stud and he covered a great book of mares in his first season. One of those mares was Dixiedoodledandy and she is a daughter of Desert Style and the stakes-winning Pips Pride mare Inourhearts. Both of those stallions stood also at the O’Callaghan’s Morristown Lattin Stud.

For good measure, Inourhearts is the dam of four winners and the best of these is the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes winner Green Door. Guess what? He is a son of Camacho who happens to stand alongside Gutaifan and Dark Angel at Yeomanstown.

Dixiedoodledandy was placed at Dundalk and the Curragh at three years before making her way to the USA where she was covered by the newly-retired Bullet Train, a Sadler’s Wells half-brother to Frankel.

The resulting offspring, a now two-year-old colt, was sold from Grangemore Stud to Stroud Coleman Bloodstock at Tattersalls Ireland last September for €26,000 and is with Harry Dunlop.

Inourhearts won the Rockingham Handicap at the Curragh for owner/breeder Sue Lenehan when trained by Frank Ennis.

Her grandam Heart ‘n’ Soul was a smart juvenile and ran third in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes.

Gutaifan followed his sire and retired to stud after racing just a single season. Rated higher than his own sire, he won the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes in record time, beat the Gimcrack Stakes winner Ajaya to land the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin and was runner-up to Shalaa in the Group 1 Prix Morny.
