KODIAC WORLD RECORD AND GROUP RACE DOUBLE

Tally-Ho Stud stallion Kodiac (by Danehill) broke the great Sunday Silence's world record of 51 juvenile winners in a calendar year when Statehood made a winning debut at Lingfield on Thursday.

Godophin's juvenile is trained by Charlie Appleby, he was bred in Ireland by Patrick Cassidy, and the 200,000gns Tattersalls December Foal Sale graduate comes from the immediate family of the great, Timeform140-rated Dancing Brave (by Lyphard).

Should the colt go on to fulfil his potential then he will join his sire's tally of stakes and pattern winners, a list that currently has 39 names on it.

Two of those notched up pattern race wins at Newbury on Saturday.

Three-year-old Best Solution provided the first leg of the double when taking the Group 3 Worthington's “Indigo Leisure” Stakes (registered as the St Simon Stakes) over 12 furlongs.

That's not a trip with which we normally associate Kodiac, but like his half-brother Invincible Spirit (by Green Desert), he is a horse whose pedigree always gave him a chance of getting middle-distance horses with the right mares.

Godophin's colt was bred by Cecil and Martin McCracken, he is a 90,000gns graduate of Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, and he is trained by Saeed bin Suroor.

He is the second foal of Al Andalyya (by Kingmambo) and that half-sister to three blacktype earners is out of Kushnarenkovo (by Sadler's Wells), a full-sister to Group 1 St Leger winner Brian Boru and three-parts sister to classic and Breeders' Cup-placed Group 2 scorer Sea Moon (by Beat Hollow).

The next race on the card, the Group 3 Bathwick Tyres Stakes (registered as the Horris Hill Stakes) provided just reward for the multiple Group 2-placed colt Nebo.

The Charles Hills-trained juvenile was bred by the partnership of Select Bloodstock and Melchior Bloodstock, he is a 75,000gns Book 3 graduate, and is out of two-mile listed scorer Kindling (by Dr Fong).

That makes him a half-brother to the Grade 3-winning hurdler Bayan (by Danehill Dancer).

His third dam, Burning Issue (by Persian Bold), was Group 3-placed at Phoenix Park and a listed scorer across the Atlantic, and that mare's three stakes-winning siblings include Group 1 Middle Park Stakes victor Balla Cove (by Ballad Rock).

This distaff side gives Nebo every chance of staying beyond a mile next year.

DERBY CANDIDATE FOR DEEP IMPACT

Seven years ago, Shadai Stallion Station's then emerging sire Deep Impact (by Sunday Silence) notched up a first and, until now, only classic winner in Europe when the Elie Lellouche-trained Beauty Parlour won the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas).

A month later she was runner-up to the ill-fated Valyra in the Group 1 Prix de Diane (French Oaks), and her first foal, the €1.4 million Goffs Orby Sale graduate Being There (by Dubawi), is a juvenile winner in three starts for Charlie Appleby this year.

Beauty Parlour was born in England, so carries the GB suffix, but the colt who could give his outstanding sire a first classic hero at Epsom was born in Japan.

Saxon Warrior earned a place in the history books when his Racing Post Trophy Stakes victory gave trainer Aidan O'Brien a world record 26th Group 1 winner of the year.

The colt is unbeaten in three starts, he was bred by Orpendale, Chelston & Wynatt, he is by a stallion whose 32 top-level winners represent almost a third of his overall stakes winners tally, and he comes from the immediate family of two horses who have already won mile and a half classics at Epsom.

A full-brother to the stakes-placed filly Pavlenko, he is the second foal out of Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Maybe (by Galileo), who was a 10-length third behind runaway scorer Homecoming Queen in the Group 1 1000 Guineas but beaten by less than four lengths when fifth to Was in the Group 1 Oaks.

Her full-sister Promise To Be True was a dual Group 1-placed pattern winner at two last year and her dam is the five-furlong listed scorer Sumora (by Danehill), a sibling of Dancing Rain (by Danehill Dancer), the Group 1 Oaks and Group 1 Preis der Diana (German Oaks) heroine of 2011.

Dancing Rain's twice-raced but Group 1-placed daughter Magic Lily (by New Approach) may also be on her way to Epsom in June.

The third dam of Saxon Warrior is, therefore, Rain Flower (by Indian Ridge) and, as she is a daughter of Rose Of Jericho (by Alleged), she is a half-sister to 2002's Group 1 Derby and Group 1 Irish Champion Stakes hero Dr Devious (by Ahonoora).

Clearly, the Ballydoyle team's newest juvenile Group 1 star is bred to achieve anything.

NEW GROUP 1 FOR FASTNET ROCK

Coolmore Stud's reverse shuttle stallion and Australian champion sire Fastnet Rock (by Danehill) added to his Group 1 tally when the Tony Martin-trained Laganore won the Premio Lydia Tesio at Capannelle on Sunday.

Newtown Anner Stud's homebred mare, a Group 3 scorer at Gowran Park on her previous start, was third in the same 10-furlong contest last year and she is the 29th top-level winner for her sire.

The second foal out of Lady Bones (by Royal Applause), her dam is a half-sister to Hong Kong Grade 1 star Blazing Speed (by Dylan Thomas) and out of Leukippids (by Sadler's Wells), a half-sister to two other international performers of note.

Spartacus (by Danehill) won the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes in Ireland and Group 1 Gran Criterium in Italy, and his full-brother Johan Cruyff took the Group 2 Gallinule Stakes here before going on to success in Hong Kong.

They are out of Teslemi (by Ogygian) and that mare also features in the pedigree of this year's Irish listed scorer Orderofthegarter (by Galileo), as well as being an ancestor of 2010's New Zealand-bred Listed (local Group 1 only) Hong Kong Derby winner Super Satin (by Danehill Dancer).

With Royal Applause (by Waajib) and Sadler's Wells (by Northern Dancer) as her maternal grandsire and great-grandsire, it would be no surprise to see stallions from the Acclamation (by Royal Applause) and Galileo (by Sadler's Wells) lines featuring among the future mates of this exciting broodmare prospect.

EXCELEBRATION COLT SHOWS PROMISE

Coolmore Stud's ace miler Excelebration (by Exceed And Excel) has Group 1 star Barney Roy in his first crop and his second includes both recent listed scorer Rebel Assault and Saturday's Listed Racing Post App Doncaster Stakes winner Speak In Colours.

The latter, who has now won two of his three starts, is a Marco Botti-trained grey and he is owned and bred by Scuderia Archi Romani.

He is the first foal out of Maglietta Fina (by Verglas) and that speedy multiple winner is a half-sister to Tulius (by Le Vie Dei Colori), the prolific Andrew Balding-trained gelding whose double-digit tally includes the Group 2 bet365 Mile at Sandown and the Group 2 Sky Bet York Stakes over an extended 10 furlongs.

He has also won the Group 3 Diomed Stakes at Epsom, the Group 3 Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury, and a trio of listed contests, and it is he who chased home Olympic Glory in the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes.

GROUP 3 FOR DANDY MAN FILLY

Ballyhane Stud stallion Dandy Man (by Mozart) added to his blacktype tally when My Lea narrowly won the Group 3 Premio Carlo & Franceso Aloisi over six furlongs at Capannelle on Sunday.

The three-year-old was bred by Clara Eglington, this pattern success came just a fortnight after she won a five-furlong listed contest at San Siro, and as a €13,000 graduate of the Goffs Sportsman's Sale, she is yet another bargain to have come from that auction.

She is the third foal out of Luvmedo (by One Cool Cat), a mare who has a 100% record to date.

Her first foal was the Italian blacktype sprinter Pivotal Rio (by Captain Rio), her second is the winning gelding Dyllan (by Zebedee), and her fourth is the Johnny Murtagh-trained juvenile Mister Magic (by Red Jazz) who got off the mark at Naas last month.

The mare is out of Dress Code (by Barathea) – a full-sister to Group 3 C L Weld Park Stakes heroine Rag Top – which makes her a half-sister to Lucky General (by Hawk Wing) who had a massive payday when taking the Goffs Million Sprint at the Curragh eight years ago.

Front Row (by Panaslipper), the fifth dam of My Lea, won the Irish 1000 Guineas in 1968 and was the grandam of Group 1 Irish Oaks and Group 1 Oaks d'Italia heroine Possessive Dancer (by Shareef Dancer).

GALILEO JUVENILE

Prolific champion sire Galileo (by Sadler's Wells) added to his pattern race haul when the Aidan O'Brien-trained Flag Of Honour won the Group 3 TheTote.com Eyrefield Stakes over nine furlongs at Leopardstown on Saturday.

The Barronstown Stud-bred colt is out of Hawala (by Warning) and that makes him a half-brother to the blacktype quartet Air Chief Marshal (by Danehill Dancer), Misu Bond (by Danehill Dancer), Slip Dance (by Celtic Swing), and Foxtrot Romeo (by Danehill Dancer).

The first pair have achieved some success as stallions too, which won't be missed if their young relation goes on to earn a similar opportunity when his racing days come to an end.

His grandam's siblings include multiple stakes-winner Zack Hall (by Muhtathir) and also Afaf (by Spectrum), the Group 3-winning dam of prolific winner Zack Hope (by Araafa).
