TWENTY-SEVEN foals are expected this season at Moyglare Stud, and earlier this week stud manager Malachy Ryan was able to confirm that the first three had safely arrived.

They are a colt by No Nay Never out of the winning Holy Roman Emperor mare Antique Platinum, a full-sister to the Group 1 winner Designs On Rome, while the two fillies are daughters of Siyouni and Zoffany. Antique Platinum will be covered this spring by Gleneagles.

The Siyouni is the first foal out of the Group 3 winning Sea The Stars mare Afternoon Sunlight, a half-sister to Group 1 winner Casual Conquest, who will now be covered by Frankel, and the Zoffany is the first foal from the unraced Montjeu mare Macrame and she visits Oasis Dream who stands with Frankel at Banstead Manor. Macrame is a half-sister to Refuse To Bend and Media Puzzle.

Four mares this year will visit the world’s leading sire Galileo, and all of that quartet are also expecting foals by Coolmore’s star.

The four include a pair of winners at the highest level, the $2.4 million purchase Discreet Marq and $4.3 million buy Switch, as well as the Group 2 winner and Group 1 runner-up Sapphire, and her dam Polished Gem who is also the dam of Free Eagle.

Dubawi, the flagbearer for the Darley stallion roster, is being visited by a pair of Moyglare mares, Danehill’s daughter Irresistible Jewel, dam of the classic winner Royal Diamond, and by the Group 3 winning maiden mare Carla Bianca.

In the USA the dual Grade 1 winning hurdler Unaccompanied, also a stakes winner on the flat, is expecting to Elusive Quality and will then be covered by Distorted Humor, while the Group 2 winner and Group 1 runner-up Princess Highway will hopefully foal a mid-April foal by War Front and is set to visit Medaglia D’Oro.

The Group 1 The Irish Field St. Leger runner-up and multiple Group 3 winner Profound Beauty, dam of the 2016 stakes winner Rose De Pierre with her first foal, is mated with Kingman, while the Group 1 producer Es Que will be one of Invincible Spirit’s good book of mares for this season.

Moyglare Stud enjoyed great racing success with Free Eagle, now at the Irish National Stud, and in addition to expecting a pair of foals by the sire, the stud will send three of their 37 mares to him.

Other mouth-watering matings include Group 3 winner Sense Of Purpose visiting Sea The Stars, two mares, including Group 1 runner-up Society Hostess, being covered by Fastnet Rock, while popular sires Kodiac, Lope De Vega. Dansili and Dark Angel are all being used. Just two stallions standing their first year at stud are being used in 2017, Harzand at Gilltown and Pride Of Dubai at Coolmore.

A single mare will travel to France to be covered, the recent listed winning maiden mare Joailliere, a daughter of Dubawi, and she will visit Siyouni for her first year at stud.
