MENTION must be made of the stunning debut recently by the two-year-old Kingman (Invincible Spirit) colt King Of Comedy. Owned and bred by Lady Bamford, he is from the first crop of the classic winning miler who only met defeat once in his eight-race career. His first crop includes Juddmonte’s Group 2 Coventry Stakes winner Calyx, the George Strawbridge owned and bred Look Around, and now King Of Comedy.

The John Gosden-trained King Of Comedy is winner number six for his dam Stage Presence, a dual winning daughter of Selkirk (Sharpen Up) who cost Lady Bamford 475,000gns as a nine-year-old, having been culled by Swettenham Stud three years previously for just 49,000gns. The investment was justified when Star Of Seville won the Group 1 Prix de Diane, French Oaks, as well as the Group 3 Tattersalls Musidora Stakes.

Another daughter of Stage Presence is English Ballet (Danehill Dancer) and she was a Group 3 winning juvenile who was runner-up in the Group 2 May Hill Stakes and third in the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile.

Stage Presence is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Rum Charger (Spectrum) and her best runner was the four-time Grade 1 winner Winchester (Theatrical).
