ON a weekend when there were more Group 1 races in Paris than hot meals for yours truly, it seems almost unfair to be providing just a round-up of the remaining races. Happily and Rhododendron both added to the almighty haul of Group 1 wins for progeny of Galileo (Sadler’s Wells). The world’s greatest sire was another whose yearlings were coveted at Newmarket this week, 17 of them averaging 816,176gns and placing him a nose in front of Dubawi. For good measure Galileo’s son Frankel had a dozen yearlings average 602,917gns.

Happily is one of three Group 1 winning offspring of the Group 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes winner You’resothrilling, joining her full-siblings and classic winners Gleneagles and Marvellous. Her two other siblings to race, also by Galileo, are the Group 1-placed duo of Coolmore and Taj Mahal. You’resothrilling is a Storm Cat (Storm Bird) own-sister to Giant’s Causeway.

The family of Rhododendron was again in the news during the week when at Tattersalls the Invincible Spirit (Green Desert) daughter of Cassandra Go (Indian Ridge) sold for 1,600,000gns. Cassandra Go is the King’s Stand Stakes winning dam of six winners, notably Halfway To Heaven (Pivotal) whose three Group 1 wins included the Irish 1000 Guineas.

Halfway To Heaven is dam of Rhododendron and her recent Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes runner-up full-sister Magical.

Battaash joins Harry Angel as Group 1 winners in 2017 sired by Yeomanstown Stud’s Dark Angel. The pair were bred by Paul and Marie McCartan who must surely be due a great deal to that son of Acclamation (Royal Applause) for any mare they want to send!

Battaash is the first winner for the Lawman (Invincible Spirit) mare Anna Law, and her nine winning siblings are headed by the Group 2 Champagne Stakes winner and Group 1 July Cup runner-up Atlaala (Selkirk).

Anna Law was unplaced, as was her half-sister Bird Key (Cadeaux Genereux) and the latter is dam of the 2017 Group 2 Duke Of York Stakes winner Tasleet (Showcasing) who also chased home The Tin Man and Harry Angel in the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes and 32red Sprint Cup.

Dark Angel’s own sire Acclamation was responsible for a Group 1 winner at Longchamp in the form of Aclaim, bred and owned by Dermot Farrington and Canning Downs. He is the first runner and winner for his Danroad (Danehill) dam Aris who was stakes-placed. Her half-sister Again (Danehill Dancer) won the Group 1 Irish 1000 Guineas and Moyglare Stud Stakes, while the next dam Cumbres (Kahyasi) is a half-sister to Montjeu (Sadler’s Wells) and from the family of Galileo Gold (Paco Boy).

The Aga Khan enjoyed a Group 1 success at the weekend thanks to Vazirabad, the gelding winning for the third time at the highest level. The son of Monsun (Manduro) is one of a pair of stakes winners, the other being Visoriyna (Dansili), from the Group 3 winner Visorama (Linamix) who was placed in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud. Visorama is a full-sister to the classic-placed Visionary and half-sister to the Group 1 Prix de la Foret winner Varenar (Rock Of Gibraltar).
