TOM Molan bred the two-year-old Chester winner Mutakatif at his Riversfield Stud in Co Limerick and sold the son of Acclamation (Royal Applause) last year at Goffs for €600,000 to Shadwell Estate. This year he is offering a yearling sibling in Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Sale, and this one is by Acclamation’s outstanding sire son Dark Angel.
Mutakatif is the fifth winner from his Woodman (Mr Prospector) dam Gorban who was placed a few times in the UAE. She has made an impact at stud, being responsible to the dual Group 1 South African winner Europa Point (Rock Of Gibraltar) and the successful sire Harbour Watch, a Group 2 winning juvenile and a son of Acclamation.
Harbour Watch’s first runners this year and last include no fewer than eight stakes performers and are headed by the Group 2 winner Tis Marvellous and stakes winner Miss Sugars, the Australian stakes winner Trojan Harbour, and the Group 2 placed Santry.
Gorand is a half-sister to Group 2 winner and Group 1 Champion Stakes third Kabool (Groom Dancer) and her grandam is the outstanding Fall Aspen (Pretense) who won the Grade 1 Matron Stakes and has become one of the most influential broodmares in history. That mare’s Group/Grade 1 winning offspring are Hamas (Danzig), Timber Country (Woodman), Northern Aspen (Northern Dancer) and Fort Wood (Sadler’s Wells), while her grandsons and granddaughters include Group/Grade 1 winners Elnadim (Danzig), Mehthaaf (Nureyev), Dubai Millennium (Seeking The Gold) and Medaaly (Highest Honor).
This is also the family of such starts as Ribchester (Iffraaj), Occupandiste (Kaldoun), Mondialiste (Galileo) and Intello (Galileo).
