SHATTERED Love added the Grade 3 Solerina Mares’ Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse to a previous listed hurdle success at Thurles, and in so doing became the third blacktype winner for her dam Tracker. She is a daughter of Yeats, the brilliant seven-time Group 1 winner who famously landed four consecutive victories in the Ascot Gold Cup.

Based at Castlehyde Stud where he will cover in 2017 at €6,500, Yeats’ oldest crop are six-year-olds and Shattered Love is a member of that initial crop. He is also the sire of Capivari, winner of a Grade 1 hurdle at Auteuil, and Augusta Kate, winner of two listed bumpers and a maiden hurdle for Willie Mullins.

The Bustino mare Tracker did not race but her six progeny to visit a winners’ enclosure include a trio that stand out. The Hernando gelding Make A Track won and placed in the Grade 2 Tim Duggan Memorial Chase at Limerick after enjoying success in bumpers and over hurdles. He won nine races in total. His Aussie Rules half-brother Irish Cavalier won a bumper, three hurdle races and a chase, but that single victory over fences came in a listed chase at Cheltenham. He also finished second in a Grade 1 novice chase at the Punchestown Festival.

Shattered Love is now the third to win at this level and she will be a most valuable broodmare also when her racing days are over. Her dam Tracker is a sibling to half a dozen winners but one of them stands head and shoulders above the rest. The Master Willie gelding Make A Stand won the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham and 11 other races, including the Grade 2 Kennel Gate Hurdle at Ascot and the Grade 3 Tote Gold Trophy Hurdle at Newbury.

Shattered Love was bred in Ireland by the Yorkshire-based Limetree Stud.
