READER UPDATE

ON August 15th I wrote about the family of juvenile winner Bridgets Fable, by Champs Elysees, and mentioned one of the standouts in the immediate pedigree, the Group 3 winner Tiger Royal. I heard since that the 19-year-old son of Royal Academy is enjoying his retirement at Peter Jones’ Betaghstown Stud near Clane in Co Kildare and is hale and hearty.

This is a family that was Jones’ introduction to thoroughbreds and the association continues today. Bridgets Fable was not accepted for the sales, despite getting a nod of enthusiastic approval from Michael Donohue of BBA Ireland, and she has rewarded her breeder’s confidence.

Her Tipperary win is also a boost to her Bated Breath yearling half-brother who is Lot 1054 in Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. He is now a half-brother to two winners and their dam’s fourth foal is a colt foal by Cacique.

A Grade 1 winning son of Danehill and a Group 1 sire, Cacique is also the sire of another yearling from Betaghstown in Book 2, and this is Lot 840, the second foal of the Group 3 winner Flowers Of Spring. Her two-year-old Lawman half-sister is with Ken Condon. Flower Of Spring’s yearling half-brother by Big Bad Bob is up early in the Goffs Orby Sale at Lot 22 and their dam is a half-sister to the classic winning champion Alamshar.
