TWO fine examples of the first foals by the dual Group 1 winner Ulysses, a son of the perennial champion sire Galileo (Sadler’s Wells), are the colt out of Troarn (Wootton Bassett) and the filly out of My Hope (Afleet Alex). Both were pictured recently at their owner’s Cheveley Park Stud.

The colt is the first foal out of a stakes-placed own-sister to Almanzor (Wootton Bassett) and he is another stallion with his first foals on the ground.

Winner of the Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club – French Derby, Almanzor added the Group 1 Qipco Irish Champion Stakes and the Group 1 Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot to his roll of honour at three. This is a well-known Aga Khan family, a female line that has produced stars such as the dual champion and multiple Group 1 winner Darjina (Zamindar) and the French Derby winner Darsi (Polish Precedent).

The filly by Ulysses is the second foal out of the unraced My Hope. She was sold, carrying her first foal by Medaglia D’Oro (El Prado) for $525,000 at Keeneland in 2017. Two of her three stakes-winning siblings were Grade 1 placed, Carve (First Samurai) and Apropos (First Samurai). Their dam Apt (A.P.Indy) is a half-sister to the champion and Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Blame (Arch).
