THIS colt foal by Berkshire was bred by Peter Nolan Bloodstock. He is out of the unraced Oscar (Sadler’s Wells) mare Katsca, a half-sister to five winners including Grade 2 winning chaser Saludos (Bob Back) and the listed bumper winner Crackerdancer (Robin Des Champs). This is also the immediate family of Jessica Harrington’s Cheltenham Festival winner Space Trucker (Kambalda) who won in the colours of Eileen Queally.

A son of the late Mount Nelson (Rock Of Gibraltar), Berkshire stands his second season at Tom Meagher’s Kedrah House Stud in Cahir, Co Tipperary. His first crop, conceived in France, are yearlings.

Berkshire was a maiden when easily winning the Listed Chesham Stakes over seven furlongs at Royal Ascot as a two-year-old. He followed that with a neck defeat of It’s Somewhat in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes over a mile at Newmarket, beat Mutakayyef in a nine-furlong Group 3 contest at that same venue the following autumn, and was a blacktype winner again at the age of five.

Berkshire’s dam, the Group 1 Prix de l’Opera heroine Kinnaird (by Dr Devious), is a half-sister to Group 3 Chester Vase scorer Mickdaam (by Dubawi), and his grandam is the unraced Ribot’s Guest (by Be My Guest), a mare with two Group 1 classic relations.

Her half-sister Profit Alert (by Alzao) is the dam of the dual listed-race winner Shifting Power (by Compton Place), who was runner-up to Kingman in the Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas, whereas half-sister Razana (by Kahyasi) is the stakes-placed grandam of classic heroine and five-time Group 1 star Laurens (by Siyouni).
