AS soon as I penned a story about the most recent group success for a son of the late Archipenko (Kingmambo), along comes an even better one. This time it was the sixth Group 1 winner for the former Lanwades Stud stallion, Glorious Forever emulating his full-brother Time Warp and also winning the Longines Hong Kong Cup.
This is typical of a true Kirsten Rausing success story – sticking with your breeding principles and believing in your families. In addition to breeding the brothers Time Warp and Glorious Forever, and standing their sire, Kirsten successfully raced their dam and grandam.
The dam Here To Eternity is an American-foaled daughter of Stormy Atlantic (Storm Cat) and she was trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam, winning a maiden as a three-year-old. Time Warp is her first offspring. He was raised in Ireland at Staffordstown and hadn’t far to travel as a yearling to be sold, realising €37,000 up the road at the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale when he was sold to agent Jeremy Brummitt.
Time Warp ended up being trained by Kirsten’s great friend Sir Mark Prescott and was a hugely progressive two-year-old, winning four-times on the trot including a listed race in France over a mile. He started his three-year-old season with another trip to France and landed a listed race, again over a mile, at Saint-Cloud. He was then sold to Hong Kong where he is now a dual Group 1 winner and his winnings are rocketing towards £3 million.
PROSPECTS BOOSTED
A year after Time Warp was born Here To Eternity foaled Glorious Forever. His sale prospects were boosted by Time Warp’s success and he sold for 110,000gns as a yearling at Tattersalls. A winner at two and three, he then joined his brother in Hong Kong. They are followed by the placed juvenile of 2017 Jack Crow (Bahamian Bounty), and the two-year-old filly Heatwave (Leroidesanimaux). This year Here To Eternity had a filly by Oasis Dream (Green Desert).
Here To Eternity is out of Heat Of The Night, a German stakes winner by Lear Fan (Roberto). At three she won a couple of times on the polytrack at Wolverhampton before connections eyed up some listed races in German, and at Bremen she duly gained that invaluable stakes victory over a mile. Heat Of The Night is out of the Brazilian Group 3 winner and classic-placed Hot Thong (Jarraar).
Archipenko is an impeccably-bred son of Kingmambo (Mr Prospector) and Bound (Nijinsky), the latter a half-sister to Fairy Bridge (Bold Reason), the dam of Sadler’s Wells (Northern Dancer). Archipenko also gained his biggest career success in Hong Kong over 10 furlongs in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup, and Glorious Forever is his sixth Group 1 winner on three continents. His final crop are yearlings of 2018 and he is buried at Lanwades.
